Symbolic derivation of Runge-Kutta order conditions
Tree theory, partitions of integer numbers, combinatorial mathematics and computer algebra are the basis for the construction of a powerful and efficient symbolic package for the derivation of Runge Kutta order conditions and principal truncation error terms.
متن کاملThe infinitesimal model: Definition, derivation, and implications.
Our focus here is on the infinitesimal model. In this model, one or several quantitative traits are described as the sum of a genetic and a non-genetic component, the first being distributed within families as a normal random variable centred at the average of the parental genetic components, and with a variance independent of the parental traits. Thus, the variance that segregates within famil...
متن کاملSymbolic Derivation of Order Conditions for Hybrid Numerov-type methods solving
Numerov-type ODE Solvers are widely used for the numerical treatment of second order initial value problems. In this work we present a powerful and efficient symbolic code in Mathematica for the derivation of their order conditions and principal truncation error terms. The relative tree theory for such order conditions is presented along with the elements of combinatorial mathematics, partition...
متن کاملMultirate integration of axisymmetric step-flow equations
We present a multirate method that is particularly suited for integrating the systems of Ordinary Differential Equations (ODEs) that arise in step models of surface evolution. The surface of a crystal lattice, that is slightly miscut from a plane of symmetry, consists of a series of terraces separated by steps. Under the assumption of axisymmetry, the step radii satisfy a system of ODEs that re...
متن کاملA new family of four-step fifteenth-order root-finding methods with high efficiency index
In this paper a new family of fifteenth-order methods with high efficiency index is presented. This family include four evaluations of the function and one evaluation of its first derivative per iteration. Therefore, this family of methods has the efficiency index which equals 1.71877. In order to show the applicability and validity of the class, some numerical examples are discussed.
